Report AdGreat Coastal Cruiser: 1976 Ranger 29
A well-balanced boat that is a great boat for newcomers to cruising and old salts alike. She's fast and fun to sail and can hold a surprising amount of gear for longer trips.
Great Blue Heron is a fiberglass coastal cruiser. She has a solid fiberglass hull, a deck cored with marine ply, integral lead ballast (no keel bolts), and a skeg hung rudder (to protect the rudder from rogue driftwood).
Rigged as a masthead sloop with a deck stepped mast, lots of sail trim gear, tiller steering, and the traveler at the back of the cockpit so its out of the way. She has a well maintained and reliable Universal M3-20 diesel engine with a new transmission, shaft, and shaft seal. Lots of sails: a fully-battened cruising main, a deep footed powerful racing main, a heavy weather Jib, a working Jib, a Dacron 120 Genoa, a Mylar 130 Genoa, and a cruising spinnaker.
Outfitted for BC coastal cruising adventures in any weather: Wallas diesel forced air heater, Engel freezer, 300W of flexible solar panels, Rocna anchor+50ft chain+250ft nylon rode. Practical accommodation with bunks in the v-berth and a spacious quarter berth. A functional open and bright galley with two burner Origo alcohol stove, pressure water, single sink and a well-insulated icebox. Large open salon with settees and a folding table. Comes with all the gear you'll need to go sailing: spare Bruce anchor+rode, 300ft floating shore-tie line, fenders+dock-lines with snubbers, Hummingbird GPS/plotter with integrated radar, VHF with DSC with a new antenna.
Currently located in Port McNeill. 2019 survey available.
