We are currently seeking a Purchasing Agent who has a love for construction with experience and knowledge of purchasing processes. The Purchasing Agent will work within the construction purchasing team in the procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services required for the construction of multi-residential developments throughout Western Canada. They will utilize expert product knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favourable price, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. Your contributions to the team: Responsible for purchasing and distributing various commodities required for the construction of multi-residential developments Estimates values according to knowledge of market price Prepares purchase orders or bid requests Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services to determine source and take corrective action Supports engineers and estimators in preparations of estimates by contacting vendors for “budgetary pricing” for equipment and materials Able to communicate with vendors, head office and site staff Works in a schedule-driven environment Orders within budgets and avoids delay costs, including shipping Reviews quotes to determine product types and quantities required to meet site needs Arranges for transportation and/or storage of purchased products Communicates regularly with site receivers Other duties as assigned What you need to be successful: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a purchaser Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing techniques and procedures Engineered Wood and lumber products knowledge considered an asset Effective communication and negotiation skills Sound judgment and shrewd decision-making skills Ability to work with little or no supervision Requires a high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality Knowledge of accounting and budgetary practices and principles Strong skills for creating RFQ’s, correspondence, quotes, and other documentation Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills Certification as a CPM, CSCP, APP, CPPB, CPPO, or equivalent would be an asset If you are interested in applying, please visit our website at www.seymourpacifica.ca and go to our careers page!
